12 Ways the Government WASTES your Money!

I decided to take my own advice and look into some ridiculous ways the government is wasting OUR tax dollars! These are just some of the various ways the governement has spent our tax dollars in the past couple years:

1) $175,587 – Study on Cocaine and the Risky Sex Habits of Quail—this is no joke!

2) $120,000,000Government Benefits for Dead People—-The government has been paying the dead for a while now, tax payers have paid over $600 million in the past five years. Most of the money consists of retirement and disability payments to deceased federal employees that we haven’t figured out are dead yet!

3) $550,000 – A Movie on How Rock ‘n’ Roll Helped Defeat Communism–that’s great…but ummm we’re 16trillion in debt!

4) $592,527 – Proving That Feces-Throwing Is a Communication Skill for Chimps—thank God, we figured this one out!

5) $25,000,000,000Spends maintaining and up keeping government buildings each year that are not even being used!  —–That’s 25 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR!

6) $742,907Study on Sheep Grazing to Control Weeds—-apparently it takes over a half million to state the obvious when it comes to government!

7) $17,800,000Gifts to China—-Yep, we are sooooo in debt to this country and instead of using this money to pay China what we owe them, we are buying them gifts!  About $4.4 million was used to improve China’s environment and $2.5 million went to various social services….—what happens when China wants to start to collect the debt we owe them???

8) $198,000-Research done to find out whether social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook made people happy—-Happy until people get their paychecks this week…

9) $862,000 -Is used each year to store office furniture and Equipment the IRS doesn’t use.—-Ahhh the good ole’ IRS….they’re find a way to get ya any way they can!

 10) $30,000,000 -was spent on a program that helped Pakistanfarmers grow more mangos—I have no words.

 11) $750,000 Was spent to buy a soccer field for prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. —-Good….because if anything…let’s make sure terrorists have a pretty field to play on J

12) $1,800,000 Spent to build a Museum of Neon Signs in Las Vegas—-ya…that’s good…because Vegas needs a few more bright lights!

Interesting FACT:

According to the Government Accountability Office, if the U.S. were to switch to $1 coins instead of printing $1 bills, as so many other nations already have, it would save $5.5billion over 30 years, or $184million annually.

I’ll say it again and again…let’s elect Congress men and women that have a clue about money and spending! Enough of these morons’s running our country! Support Congressmen and women that support #TermLimits and have lived in the private sector! No more Career Politicians!

Cut Spending Now!

THE FISCAL F UP

On January 1st Congress supposedly “avoided” going of the Fiscal Cliff. So much talk of this “dumb” cliff….can we instead just call it “Americans have repeatedly elected the same congressmen over and over who really have no clue about economics but are instead career politicians that have little experience or knowledge of the private sector and because of this we are in an incredible unavoidable crisis, because yes…we have placed morons in charge of our finances.”

That’s going to be my new definition of the Fiscal Cliff.

Just so everyone is aware…The tax hikes that have been combined with the spending cuts, could trigger another and possibly even greater recession! The fiscal cliff avoidance that took place on Tuesday only postponed catastrophe.  Let’s clarify that postponing a problem is not fixing the problem. Two months from now lawmakers will have to face spending cuts and they will find themselves in a similar position — only this time-the debt ceiling will play a much larger role!

The ratio of tax increases in the plan approved is literally comical, when you compare the tax hikes to the spending cuts! The bill includes $620 billion in tax hikes and $15 billion in spending cuts.

So let’s just simplify this whole scenario….

     1)    We are in debt

2)    We continue to pretend like we are not

3)    Many believe that taxing the super wealthy will fix our debt problem

4)    The wealthy already pay 3x’s what the average American pays in taxes.

5)    Even if the wealthy paid almost 50% of their earnings in taxes it would only produce 400billion leaving us with a deficit of 1.1 trillion

6)    The rich’s tax would have to be taxed 88% in order for the budget to be balanced, the average rich person makes 300,000 a year which in turn would bring the riches income down to 36,000 a year. So then the average rich household is now making less than the average household.

7)    Ok so then the government decides to tax those making 100k a year in order to fix the deficit -that means if you make 50k and your spouse makes 50k you would be in this bracket and you would be taxed over half of what you make in order to fix this mess!

8) You tax the rich they no longer can afford to hire you

9)    The truth…taxing the wealthy is NOT going to fix this problem!

10)    The truth….we MUST cut spending

11)  The truth…cutting spending is NOT fun…in fact it’s painful…but it’s what we HAVE to do!

12)   The truth…if we don’t cut spending…our future and children’s future will suffer greatly.

13)  The truth…look at Europe…it’s broke and in a terrible mess….they taxed instead of cut spending…it doesn’t work!

Begin to research on ways the government completely WASTES your money…and you will soon realize CUTS CAN and SHOULD BE MADE!

It’s time to wake up! Speak up and Speak out! Write your congressman/women…better yet elect a new one…one that has a clue about money and spending!

Embarrassing Moment

I was just chatting on the phone earlier this morning with my sister Claire and she insisted I share this embarrassing moment!

Well, we have all had them at some point or another….and many -or possibly all of our embarrassing moments -we’d like to forget!

I understand now why the word “ass” can be found in the word embarr(ass)ing, because that’s exactly what I felt like the other day at Costco.

I was wheeling along my son Bode in one of Costco’s huge carts and found myself right next to another mom who had a little boy almost the same age as Bode. Right next to her cute little son was another little boy who looked just months older.

I smiled and asked how old her youngest son was; she smiled back and told me he was 8months old. I then of course wanted to know how far apart her two little boys were-she said they were 15months apart….

I said wow….you’ve got your hands full and my big mouth then added “and another one on the way…geez!”

Now let me just say…this woman looked at least 7 to 8 months pregnant. She was even wearing a little maternity outfit with a top that synched in right above her belly.

As I was saying this, her husband came out of nowhere and they both just starred at me…it was a cold death stare and the woman’s ever so pleasant smile turned into a tight lipped glare and I received a curt sharp reply of “no….I am not pregnant.”

Ahhhhhh! I wanted to crawl into the meat bin or hide behind Bode….I felt my whole body flush with a red glow. “Oh”…..yep….that’s all I could say. Now my cart was facing the other woman’s cart….so in a very hurriedly awkward attempt I tried to turn this gynormous cart around in the very crowded isle while this couple just starred at me without an utter. I even felt like this woman’s two little boys were disgusted……

I tell ya, me, Bode and my gigantic squeaky cart couldn’t get out of there fast enough! I still found myself constantly looking over my shoulder as I quickly threw whatever else I needed in the store into my cart. At checkout I was just praying that the irritated couple didn’t catch up with me!

So in the midst of all the hustle and bustle of the holiday cheer, there’s always moments for complete embarrassment!

Take a moment to recall an embarrassing moment that you’ve had and share it with a friend or family member…it’ll bring a smile to their face and possibly yours….

Garlic Knots Recipe

The other night I was making spaghetti and meatballs and usually I just throw a baguette in the oven but I wanted something different.

I decided to search for a recipe on “Garlic Knots” and the recipe I found was soooo good I just had to share!
The only thing is you have to plan on making them earlier in the day because you are working with dough that has to rise for a few hours. Lucky for me…my husband and I have late dinners so I had the time.

The only thing I did different from the recipe that is linked below, is I added shredded mozzarella cheese to the dough after it had risen but before I rolled it out and cut.

Try em’ out….they are mmmmm good!

Certain in the midst of uncertainty

We live in an uncertain world. What happened on Friday was one of the worst, most tragic days in our country’s history. There are so many things I want to say…there are many things that if I said them now…they may not be well received. Many cry out…why? Many want answers…….

I will save much of what I want to say for another time…another moment….

With this uncertain world that we live in today…I have found myself over this past weekend reflecting on what I am certain of………

First and foremost, I am certain of God’s everlasting, never failing love for me and for humanity.

I am certain that if I was to die today, I’d spend eternity with Jesus.

I am certain of the love that I have for my little boy.

I am certain of the love that I have for my husband.

I am certain of the love I have for my family and close friends.

I am certain that what happened on Friday was NOT the will of God.

I am certain that we live in a fallen world.

I am certain that there is an ultimate good in this world and at the same time ultimate evil.

This evil’s only desire is to steal, kill and destroy but God comes to give life and give it abundantly.

Though it has become trendy to say “God moves in mysterious ways,” this is not scriptural and no where in the word of God can this common phrase be found. Though we might not understand the “why” the blame should not and cannot be put on God but on the evil that has defied God since the beginning of time.

I am certain that God is a gentleman. He will come and goes as we ask him to.

I am certain that the absence of God is hell, and with God’s absence there is the absence of: love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, long suffering, faithfulness and temperance.

I am certain that those 20 innocent children tragically lost on Friday are in heaven with our Creator.

I am certain that God looks deep into our hearts and knows and truly sees us more than anyone else on this earth.

I am certain that there are answers to every question we have. Those answers can be found in time spent alone with God, watching the sun melt into the horizon, in our child’s uninhibited laughter, in prayer, and in reading the holy spirit inspired scripture-I have found more answers here-than any other place.

I am most certain that this world desperately needs Jesus.

Every one of us at some point these past few days, has to have paused and thought what is going on…and why?

I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.Psalm 34:4
