My Hero

Most hero’s are found in comic books, novels, or in our own imagination….yet I found this hero in my very own home growing up as a kid-my dad.
The term ‘hero’ is described as “a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.
a war hero.
My father is the son of a World War II veteran, he never served in war himself ….but I know he would have if called upon.
To say that my dad is a unique anomaly, barely begins to describe him. There is only one.
Growing up as a kid, I really didn’t know how rare my dad was. He was just the guy that had tea parties with me when I was 4years old, the guy that told “hungry Tom and Jack the bear man” stories to me and my siblings (stories invented and created by my dad). He was the guy that took me to the ice rink before the sun rose every weekday before heading into work himself, the guy that said prayers over me every night and checked for snakes under my bed, the guy that picked me up early from school dances, the guy making sure I stayed away from boys, and the guy making sure I was home at curfew…..
It wasn’t until later after leaving home and going away to college that I really started to realize how unique my dad was and is.
Now I see that being a father of seven children and putting them all through college is rare.
Walking away from the security of a corporate job to start your own business while have 8 people depending on you for their well being -is rare.
Not giving up when things were looking grim-even more rare.
My dad is a man that dreams bigger than anyone I have ever known. He has never been one to follow the crowd-he is a leader, a go getter, an ‘I don’t care if the odds are against me’ kinda guy. He loves Jesus with all his heart and at the same time a good cigar and glass of wine. He is compassionate, honest, and will tell you the truth- even when it’s hard to hear. One of the manliest men I know but still tears up when he hears “The star spangled banner.”  He loves to laugh, and challenges me to be the best I can be. A father to seven-but I never for a moment felt like a number growing up. He is an entrapaneuer, a risk taker, he was at every sporting event of his children (if not coaching), a mentor, counselor, advisor, exhorter, and a person that inspires me every day-to make a difference.
It will be two years ago in about a week that my dad ran for United States Congress.
I still think about it often. To find a person with such an incredible love and concern for this country is rare. We get caught up with our own lives and it is so easy to loose sight of the country that has provided us the opportunities that we have.
Many of us see Liberty, Justice and our Constitutional rights being attacked and we feel powerless….but we are not. How do I know???
….because I see my dad.
After losing, the Congressional race he got back up….brushed himself off….and loves this country more today than yesterday. He is not done. He is more involved, more passionate, more outspoken, more fired up then ever before. He believes in the hope of America, he believes that America is still the greatest nation on this earth and there is no surrender.
You see…..
Now I know.
The character and heroic nature of a man is not what he does after he has won, but what he does after he has lost.
I have watched these two years go by and I now know that my hero, is truly a hero.
My hero’s tale has yet to be written about, because I believe some of the most heroic tales still lie ahead for this man.
Happy Father’s Day Dad, I love you-my hero.

Even Jesus Rocked the Boat

Even Jesus rocked the boat
‘If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all…’ sound familiar?
We all grew up hearing that taught, this was instilled in our behavior….just shut your mouth if you can’t be nice. I agree with this concept- to a point-but I also believe it is our calling as Christians to speak up and speak out.
I have found that many believers think that we are to be passive and non-confrontational, our soul purpose to love.
I do believe that we are called to Love first and foremost but love is not passive, love takes action.
When you study the ‘love’ chapter-1 Corinthians 13,
Love is all verbs! So love in itself is not passive.
My love for this country can be spoken about over and over-but it’s my actions that I will be judged by. What did I do to defend her? Was I silent while her freedoms were slowly being taken from her? Did I not speak up when I saw the erosion of her rights being suffocated because I didn’t want to cause others to feel uncomfortable…

I am trying to figure out when making others ‘uncomfortable’ became unchristian????

Don’t discuss, post, tweet or address particular topics because they will make people uncomfortable.
Instead let’s talk about unicorns, lollipops and the latest fashion craze…. 😉
Focus only topics people can agree on-nice concept- but that is actually not a true practice of Christianity.
If the floor is dirty, you sweep it. If you simply resign to sweeping the dirt under the rug, that doesn’t mean the room is clean.
Why are we so afraid to be uncomfortable or God forbid make anyone else uncomfortable?
When you study the life of Jesus- he was constantly making people uncomfortable.
In fact there are countless occurrences in the new testament of Jesus causing such disruption and even anger.
At one point Jesus was flipping over tables in a temple-hmmm that’s not very nice and I bet that made some people very uncomfortable…
Scribes and Pharisees were constantly telling Jesus that he is not abiding by the rules, and rule breaking caused all sorts of uncomfortableness (not a real word….but gets the point across : )

Jesus, defended his disciples numerous times-when they were breaking scriptural law as well.
There was no separation of church and state back then, they were linked. There were no topics that were “avoided” or taboo. So when Jesus was addressing, disagreeing and even breaking scriptural laws he was also in defiance of the government.  A few examples:
Jesus said all meats/foods were clean, the Jewish law was to not consume pork.
Jesus, taught, healed and delivered people on the Sabbath, the Jewish law was to rest on this day.
Jesus, drank wine and his first miracle was turning water into wine, yet Leviticus 10:9 states to not drink wine, and the majority of Jewish people abided by this.
Jesus is often portrayed as so peaceful but he himself said:
34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. (Matthew 10:34-35).

I really think the times of being able to stay silent on some political and social issues, is no more. I think when we are silent and do not speak up, we are still going to be held responsible. This is clearly going to cause division…..and this is going to make people uncomfortable…
Jesus died because he made a very bold claim, he claimed to be the Son of God. I bet you it wasn’t easy to say something like that,  He knew the price that would be paid for making such a proclamation. He said things constantly that rocked the boat and he told us to go and do the same.

We are called to be ‘Christ like,’ when you really study the life of Christ he was controversial because he spoke truth.
Truth often is so hard to hear and can cause great controversy, anger and resentment….but truth opens the door for freedom.

Freedom is what this blog is about. I believe that individual freedom as Americans is closely linked to the freedom found in Christ.
I believe that we are to stand strong in our convictions, to speak up on issues because the big issues effect humanity and that is what Christ died for.
And…… if you are making some uncomfortable….then maybe you are doing something right 🙂

Impeachment

I -a simple citizen of the United States -call for an Impeachment of President Obama.

What does that mean?

Impeachment is a formal process in which an official is accused of unlawful activity, the outcome of which, depending on the country, may include the removal of that official from office as well as criminal or civil punishment.

What unlawful activity is the president being accused of….well….where do I begin???

Obama time and time again has defied the Constitution, which is the very framework by which we live by.

Before I dive into the latest catastrophe our current administrations has caused -let’s just  highlight the last 2.5  years for the sake of having a shorter read…

IRS targeting Conservative groups…how messed up is this!? The Internal Revenue Service specifically going after and auditing, investigating, harassing Conservative groups and also harassing those that have donated to Conservative Groups. IRS official Lois Learner -invoked her 5th Amendment Right to not speak…..if you aren’t speaking…what are you hiding.

Benghazi: Let’s just call a spade a spade. The men that died -US Ambassador Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods, and Glen Doherty -were left to die- because sending in help would make the Obama Administration look bad when they were campaigning for the 2012 election on the platform that the tension of Al Qaida was dissolving. If there was a terrorist attack and a lot more men were to die re-election would be in jeopardy……so let the men die.

The Veteran Scandal: Over 40 Veterans have died because they have not been able to receive healthcare (by the way this is just a foreshadowing of what Obama Care is gonna look like once it goes into full effect). These are our Veterans. The men and women that have fought and risked their lives to keep America free. These men and women should be held in the highest regard-receiving the BEST treatment! The Obama Administration acted clueless that this was even going on! Obama served on the Veteran Affairs Committee when he was a Senator….if there is anyone that was aware of our treatment of Veterans it would be him! I also believe that a LEADER takes responsibility. If something is happening on your watch…YOU OWN IT! Obama is incapable of taking responsibility …..which I believe makes him completely unfit to lead.

Obama Care: IF you like your plan you can keep your plan….ummm LIE.

The Illegal wiretapping by the NSA violating our 4th Amendment Right: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. There is no arguing this it happened, I believe it is STILL happening and it violates OUR RIGHTS, -which I’ll have you know-if you don’t fight for your rights…they are taken from you and the generations that will follow you.

The latest and seriously the most incompetent, shocking, and seriously still continues to baffle me…: The freeing of a Deserter who supposedly renounced his American citizenship, was being investigated by the CIA (since 2012 for being a possible terrorist himself) Bowe Bergdahl,  in exchange for the release of  5 deadly Taliban members. (In the process of trying to find Bergdahl after he deserted his troop- 6 American soldiers died.) Ahhhh…. and I won’t even go into my theories on Bergdahl or Bergdahl’s dad who praised Allah on the White House steps while Obama stood along side him nodding as if understanding what Bergdahl’s dad was saying in Arabic….no no….let’s not go there…..

Instead let’s talk about Completely BREAKING THE LAW , a law that Obama himself wrote.
This alone is call for impeachment! Obama was to give Congress 30 days notice of any prisoners released from Guantanamo, instead Congress was given 5 hours. That’s a law that Obama wrote himself and signed just a year ago. Obama did not abide by the law. Had Obama followed the law -Bergdahl’s background would have been thoroughly vetted- resulting in all the alarming info we are hearing about him now! Congress would HAVE NOT agreed to this exchange and we would not have loosed 5 deadly terrorist who hate America and want to destroy her!
On top of this, in Article II Section 4 of our Constitution -the grounds for Impeachment are discussed.

One of the grounds is this:  (The President) Must certainly be punishable for giving false information to the Senate. (Obama didn’t even give any info to the Senate-he bypassed Congress all together) He is to regulate all intercourse with foreign powers, and it is his duty to impart to the Senate every material intelligence he receives. If it should appear that he has not given them full information, but has concealed important intelligence which he ought to have communicated, and by that means induced them to enter into meansures injurious to their country, (Ummm ya freeing the Taliban Dream team will be detrimental!) and which they would not have consented to had the true state of things been disclosed to them, – in this case, I ask whether, upon an impeachment for a misdemeanor upon such an account…..)

Congress is elected by we the people, if they are not allowed to speak on OUR behalf….then We are no longer a democratic society. Obama is not our parent, he does not decide what’s best for his children- he works for us and he did not consult us…if he had…we might not be in the danger we have now put ourselves and our children in….

This is grounds for Impeachment and I am calling for it!

The Suffocation of our freedom

Suffocation:
a (1) :  to stop the respiration of (as by strangling or asphyxiation) (2) :  to deprive of oxygen

b :  to make uncomfortable by want of fresh air
2
:  to impede or stop the development of

This is what I am witnessing, the suffocation of free thought and free speech. We have become a society of pansies….unable to handle anyone’s point of view that conflicts with mainstream culture. If an individual vocalizes their thoughts they are ridiculed, attacked, harassed or fired.

I have argued with many that actually agree with this new wave of thought policing. They find it comforting that only “kind” words and “non-conflicting” thought can be shared. If you have an opinion and it might offend someone…just keep it to yourself.
Well you know what I say-grow a pair….Seriously!
I am so over this willy-nilly ….subdued society we are creating!

The progressive movement is enforcing what their forefathers hated-the ability to be liberated in thought and speech!
Oh but we are liberated…..no no no we are not!
If you think you might be fired for expressing your faith…you are not liberated.
If you think you might be attacked by an angry mob for professing your belief in a lifestyle choice, you are not liberated.
If you are paranoid to “describe” another individual because it might loose the wrath of fury, you are not liberated.
If you disagree with those in political authority and are immediately accused of being racist, you are not liberated.

I am witnessing the suffocation of our freedom right in front of my eyes!

This incessant overanalyzing of every single word anyone articulates is insanity!!!

When children are encouraged to not try to “win” in field days/sporting events because it might offend someone…we have a problem.
When the debate of whether or not to say the National Anthem at sporting events is even taking place because it might hurt people’s feeling….we have a problem.
When you aren’t allowed to wear American patriotic clothing to a school in America on a Cinco De Mayo celebration…we have a problem.
When colleges are now putting in “trigger warnings” in text books-so that students don’t get upset or offended about controversial material….we have a problem.

If we sit back and allow this to continue we will have no voice at all.
If we stay silent we are condoning this suffocation of freedom.
If we simply shrug our shoulders and say ‘oh well’….we are guilty.
Guilty of the death of a nation that stands for freedom. The freedom to think, say, be, choose, voice what you-yes you feel and believe.
Disagreeing is not bad, it’s the assassination attempts that I am witnessing on those that utter something controversial.

George Orwell wrote the novel 1984, back in 1949….it is about an omnipresent government surveillance, and public manipulation that is dictated by a political system
under the control of a privileged (socialistic)  “Inner Party.”  This inner party/elite group persecutes all individualism and independent thinking as “thoughtcrimes”. The tyranny of the elite is justified  by saying it is for the “greater good”….sound familiar…??

We are creating a 1984 America… Enough!!!!
Speak up and Speak out-Be an individual with your OWN thoughts, OWN beliefs, OWN faith and DO NOT BACK DOWN. Stand up for yourself and your country!

Below is an excerpt that rings so true:

“There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment. How often, or on what system, the Thought Police plugged in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time. But at any rate they could plug in your wire whenever they wanted to. You had to live—did live, from habit that became instinct—in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized.”
George Orwell’s “1984”
