Marriage in the hands of 9…..

The Supreme Court is set to rule on Gay Marriage next month. I have written before on his subject before recently and I am a Civil Unions for all and let the churches deal with the religious sacrament of marriage kinda person. Read that blog here.

But I tend to be a Libertarian when it comes down to the Federal Government stepping into our lives and re-defining what marriage is altogether. Why? Well, because there’s a whole other side to this issue -this decision will directly effect our First Amendment right-the Freedom of Religion. If a religion be it: Islam, Hindu, Judaism, or Christianity believes that marriage is between a man and a women-which they all do and the Federal Government is now going to re-define marriage to be a bond between anyone or anything, then churches who refuse to comply -will be charged with discrimination. You thought is was bad with the bakeries…..just wait….

So let’s say marriage is re-defined in June. This is where the battle really begins….because let’s be honest, it’s not about “equality” here it’s about going after religion, specifically Christianity….because whether our President acknowledges it or not-this nation was founded on Christian principles. But we are living in a world that despises anyone who stands for anything anymore…..whooohooo anything goes now right!?

For thousands of years marriage has been between a man and a woman, but in June, 9 Supreme Court Justices, 9 fallible people- could abolish marriage as we know it. Ya ya ya……we have “evolved”-is what I keep hearing….ummm side note: I personally wouldn’t use that as an argument…..a KEY component in evolution is procreation…

If this is to happen, we are going to see churches charged with discrimination….law suites after law suites. Many will turn away from what their doctrines teach and comply to the Federal Governments demands. I believe we will see huge spiritual leaders cave to the pressure. This is when many must choose. Just where is your faith? Do you have a faith? Is it just a made up compilation of theology that when tested crumbles? You can only stay lukewarm for so long. Even if you don’t have a faith and you believe in nothing, are you okay with our First Amendment Rights being overridden by 9 individuals? Do you believe in individual liberty? If you don’t think the decision in June will directly impact your Individual Rights as an American you are in for surprise…..

Speak up!

I can hear the pitchforks being sharpened….

#Transgender from a #Christian perspective….

I saw this advertisement by Clean and Clear, and it left me confused. Being a mom in these times is not easy. Anything goes! If you have an opinion or a thought that is different than what the main stream media would suggest, you are seen as hateful or bigoted. I am neither hateful or bigoted, but I am confused.

This ad features Jazz Jennings, a transgendered teenager. She claims that she is a girl, trapped in a boys body. Now she is living her life as a girl. Watch:

Between this ad and Planet Fitness (a couple weeks ago) revoking a woman’s membership because she felt uncomfortable in the gym’s locker room with a transgender -Carlotta Sklodowska- a man who is living her life as a woman…I am now even more confused.

 . transgender

One half of One percent of the population is said to identify with being transgendered, but with the media these days….you’d think half the population was!

Geeeez, how am I to process this stuff….and then how am I to explain this to my kids when they are older?

Here’s what I know:

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”      Genesis 1:27. There are XX Chromosomes making you a woman and there are XY Chromosomes making you a male. God designed us in HIS image. I also believe that there are no exceptions to HIS design. His design is perfect, because HE is perfect.

I also know this:

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart” Jeremiah 1:5. God knows us. He knew us before he created us. He desires a relationship with us. He also says “if we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us.” It is not about how we “feel” or how we “see” our selves-it is rather about how God sees us. How does God see you? You can know how God sees you by creating and forming a relationship with Him.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14. God’s works ARE wonderful, and His creation of humanity is His masterpiece. Regardless of how you “feel,” God made you wonderful and there is no confusion in God.

“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.” 1 Corinthians 14:33.

Is it possible to go through periods of questioning our sexuality….yes, of course….but we are also called to “demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5. Thoughts can get out of control…if we allow them to. That’s why we take our thoughts captive and line them up with what God’s word says.

Here’s what I am trying to say. If you want to really know yourself, know who you are called to be, know who you were created to be….seek a relationship with God. In that relationship, you will find who God has called you to be. This world, is a crazy place….without God, we really are lost….and we’ll try to identify ourselves through feelings….but feelings don’t last, only God’s love does….and that can be found in a relationship with Him.

The world would love to quickly tell you Who you are, but the truth of who you are is found in God.

God says

Do not fear

I don’t even know where to begin. My heart is heavy….
Our world is in such distress and conflict.
We’ve got North Korea saying they are determined to nuke the US.
Russia attacking innocent Ukrainian civilians, and shooting down commercial airliners.
A major humanitarian crisis on our countries southern borders, with illegal immigrants flooding into our country….
A complete lack and reverence for our Constitution from our leaders.
Christians in Iraq being murdered because they are refusing to renounce their faith in Jesus.
A terrorist organization known as Hamas, vowing to annihilate the country of Israel (our only ally in the middle-east) and using innocent Palestinians to do it. Telling Palestinians not to leave their location knowing that it will be a target in a most likely deadly attack, and then using propaganda to fuel their cause.
The terrorist group Boko Haram in Africa, killing Christians, and they have yet to return the hundreds of girls that were kidnapped months ago…which started the trendy hash-tag campaign #Bringbackourgirls (and of course the mainstream media has fallen silent on this story…..)
I have never witnessed such division in our country as well….political parties causing such divisiveness and a president flaming this fire.
I’d love to say that it’s all going to get better….that this is just a bad dream and we’ll wake up and all will be well.
I am a mom, I ask myself everyday what kind of world are my kids going to grow up in? Will they be safe? What does their future look like? It’d be great to have the ability to not think about it all….but I know people like that….people who really don’t show concern….and I can’t relate to them….
I am gravely concerned.
The only thing that brings me peace is my hope and faith.
I know that my children were born for such a time as this. They have a specific calling on their lives, no life is an accident….God says that he knew us before we were formed in our mother’s womb.
Even if it does get crazier…more insane…we are equipped because we have Jesus.
Years ago when I was living in Los Angeles, I had the words “Hebrews 13:5″ tattooed on my wrist the passage is: “I will never leave you or forsake you” -that is a promise God made to me, to all of us. At the time it meant so much to me but it means even more now.
My husband reads a ton…more than almost anyone I have ever known. He is reading everything he can get his hands on right now about the wars our country has fought. He told me that the Marines primary prayer is Psalm 23. It’s amazing how scripture rings true throughout history. There is no beginning or end to its relevance in our lives.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
With all the chaos in the world…..there is something that does not change…..something that is the same as it was yesterday, today and forever more….Jesus and his words to us. It’s easy for it all to get cloudy…right vs. wrong, good vs. evil, the world is becoming more and more gray…..
It’s easy to get off course….to question direction….
Our anchor in the storm has to be the bible. The bible is the compass we were given in a lost world. If it’s not in the words we were given…..question it. Thank God we have this though! I believe that No words are divine unless they are found in the scriptures. Remember this when the wind starts to blow….
No matter what happens, what may come, what lies ahead….do not fear. We are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. In the end….all will bow all will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord….

Religious freedom….not so much…

In case you haven’t heard a cadet at the United Air Force Academy is being court martialed for having a Bible verse written on the white board outside his dorm room! No JOKE!
Ya….I know nuts right! I mean this is absurd! If our religious freedoms are no longer protected and we can’t express our faith…than this country is straight up doooomed!
Below is a posting I wanted to share and I couldn’t agree more!
Robert Blaha’s Face Book Page:
“Below is my modified version of Susan’s (my wife) recent “Letter to the Editor” published in the Colorado Springs Gazette:
Our family has lived in Colorado for 20 years and we can look from our back yard and see the Air Force Academy. It has always been a source of pride to see the symbol of American freedom and liberty from our home. I honor and respect the brave men and women who represent us so well as Cadets. But after reading the numerous articles and blogs about the Cadet who posted a Bible verse on his personal whiteboard, having to erase it because it offended other Cadets…outrage is my only response. Whether you are Baptist, Presbyterian, Congregationalist, Catholic, Non- Denominational or even of another Faith … you need to be concerned. When or first Amendment can be so easily, casually and consistently be dismissed…. Beware !

I am appalled by the biased anti-Christian atmosphere that permeates the Academy. I’m tired of hearing about leaders at the Academy bowing down and cowering to the ant-Christian chorus that sing the toneless refrain. I’m tired of reading about Cadets whining to their superiors about how they are so offended by Christians….Really.
Our right to live our Christian faith out in public is protected and under siege…. Period.
I say those weak and offended by those who exercise our most basic rights, should grow up and Leaders who put their political finger in the wind should seriously evaluate their understanding of The Constitution of the United States of America. If WE stand by and remain silent then we are in the grasp of a nefarious and terrible future….. regardless the coming topics….”
